RAGBRAI^® XL – Celebrating 40 Years of Iowa

The Oldest, Largest and Longest Bicycle Tour in the USA

Four decades have passed since two journalists biked from Sioux City to Davenport, and simultaneously started an Iowa tradition. That ride – known then as the Great Six-Day Bicycle Ride event – ignited the Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa™, or RAGBRAI.

RAGBRAI XL will be held from July 22 through July 28. A special treat for this year’s riders, the 2012 RAGBRAI is celebrating its 40th anniversary with the Iowa landscape – all 471 miles of it. For six days, join your fellow rider in “Celebrating 40 Years of Iowa,” and coast through towns like Cherokee, Marshalltown and Cedar Rapids – all with Best Western hotels either in town or nearby.
